Di Humphreys paints nudes and landscapes as “figures which occupy space.” For 15 years she has worked with artists’ models and often names her sitters as a mark of respect. Her nudes are biographical; her wooded landscapes draw on memories of a Buckinghamshire childhood in the Chiltern Hills. Di works fast, drawing until a line or shape appears, then uses mixed media at the easel to respond to the moment.
Sue Bennett’s work represents the experience of seeing. She begins with sustained drawing, then moves to paint when a line or shape points the way. Colour is central to her practice—she aims to make hues sing, a habit first inspired by stained glass.
Two practices, one show: figure and place, drawing and paint.

Richard Allen
Wings and Water
An exhibition of paintings & prints inspired by the coastal estuaries of Essex
Richard Allen is an artist and illustrator based in East Anglia, living amid the creeks and marshes of the Essex coast. His great passion is the natural world, particularly birds, and he relishes the challenge of sketching and painting them directly from life in the field in all weathers. The Colne estuary near his home in Wivenhoe provides plentiful inspiration, especially in winter when large flocks of waders and wildfowl gather on the coast.
A freelance illustrator with over 30 years’ experience, he has worked in publishing, newspapers, stamp design, and on interpretation illustrations for numerous conservation bodies, including the RSPB and the National Trust. Recent commissions include projects for the Great Fen Project, Exmoor National Park, Leeds Castle, and Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort.

A ceramic artist working from her own studio, based at her home in the Norfolk countryside.
With the use of specialist glazes, Katherine makes a diverse collection of vases, jugs, and lamp bases, plus a range of highly decorative and functional kitchenware.
These are unique, ‘one off’ items, hand painted by Katherine; the majority of her designs are inspired by natural surroundings and the plants and flowers from her garden.

Mother & Son Art Exhibition
For the first time, mother-and-son duo Barbara Peirson and Joe Lichtenstein will present a joint exhibition as part of the Wivenhoe Art Trail. Barbara’s wistful, mysterious works contrast beautifully with Joe’s bold, dynamic style, offering two distinct perspectives on Wivenhoe’s landscapes.
This collaboration is a celebration of family, creativity, and the town they call home. Barbara’s paintings often carry a touch of humour and nostalgia, while Joe’s energetic brushstrokes capture the vibrancy of the world around him. Together, they create a dialogue through art, inviting viewers to see familiar scenes through fresh eyes.

Easter week brings the inaugural exhibition of The Seven, a collective of talented artists working across diverse styles and mediums. Expect work from:
James Le Jeune, multidisciplinary artist specialising in print, painting and pyrography.
Brenda Jones, abstract artist emphasising rhythm, colour and pattern.
Debbie Ayles, artist inspired by architecture.
Susie Scott, abstract artist making multidisciplinary art works.
Wendy Bailey, semi abstract artist.
Edith Kiss, art teacher and multidisciplinary artist.
Tina Bullen, multidisciplinary fine artist specialising in oils, inks and pastels.
The number seven, often associated with magic and creativity, sets the tone for a week of artistic wonder and imagination. Each artist brings a unique perspective, shaping a dynamic and thought-provoking collection.
